Award-wining French translator Bruno Gaurier

Award-wining French translator Bruno Gaurier, guest of honour at the Hopkins International Literary Festival where his latest translation of Hopkins’s works will be launched in partnership with the French Embassy in Ireland The French Embassy in Ireland

Bruno Gaurier, born in Nantes in 1942, is an economist, philosopher, writer, poet and translator. Awards:

He has also produced numerous other translations of works by the 19th century Jesuit poet, including his sermons. A new translation of Hopkins’s poems (Poèmes, Les éditions du Cerf) appeared in 2019. 

This year, the Hopkins Society is proud to welcome him as a true representative of the rich traditions of French literary life and culture, and we are proud to acknowledge the support we have received from the French Ambassador to Ireland H.E. Vincent Guérend and his Embassy.

Bruno Gaurier’s latest translation of Hopkins’s work, Journal, (Les éditions du Cerf 2024) will be launched on Thursday 25th July 2024 at 11.00 am. The Hopkins Society is delighted to be able to welcome the French Ambassador himself to the event in Newbridge College, Newbridge. Co. Kildare in partnership with the French Embassy in Ireland.

Bruno Gaurier will also partipate in The Hopkins Festival Multilingual Translation Workshop, Thursday 25th July, 11.45 . All welcome.
